BRINGIN' HOME THE BACON
We’re inviting all kids to “Bring Home the Bacon” with Chef Kate Rudasill from Brookshire Brothers, 1921 Catering.
Bringing Home the Bacon will be a four-week online series where we’re encouraging kids to put on their aprons while Chef Kate guides us through an entire kid-friendly meal, while also learning practical financial lessons.
Kids will have tons of fun making these delicious meals, but will also start thinking about important financial lessons, like “creating a budget” and “eating in vs eating out”.
Bringing home the bacon is the perfect recipe of fun and education!
Sign up today to get your kiddo involved in all of the fun, all while supporting Junior Achievement of Angelina County!
Here's a few questions you might have that we'll clear up for you!
I want to sign up my kids, how old do they have to be?
"Kids" of all ages can participate, however the recipes and financial topics are geared toward kids aged 8-13. While we won't limit a younger child, or grown adult, from participating, the videos are designed for that age range.
How do I watch the videos?
After you register for the event, we will give you a password to a private page on our website where the videos will be and you can access them from any device with internet access.
How many videos/recipes will there be?
This will be a 4 week series, where each week will feature a different kid-friendly recipe and financial topic.
When will the videos be released?
Every Tuesday at 5:00pm, we will release that week's video.
We have soccer practice Tuesdays at 5:00pm, so can we participate?
Absolutely! The videos will not be live, so you can go back and watch them at any time! Make it work for your family's schedule.
I don't live in Lufkin, can I still Bring Home the Bacon?
Of course! The videos will be housed on our website, so anyone with internet access will be able to watch the videos.
Will we know the ingredients needed before the video airs?
Yes! We will send out a grocery list and needed supplies approximately one week before the next week's video will premier. That gives you plenty of time to shop. While you can get your groceries anywhere, we prefer your local Brookshire Brothers!
I have more than one kid, do I have to sign them each up?
No. We assume all the kids in the household would participate under the same access code. However, because this is a fundraiser for Junior Achievement to continue to bring our programs to the students of Angelina County, we ask that you not share the access code with people outside of your household.
